Arrival at the airport in Bergen in the daytime. Meet the group at the airport (arrival time to be coordinated with the organizers).
We buy groceries in the supermarket and go for a walk around the city of Bergen.
Bergen is the second largest city in Norway and the former capital of the country. Today it is the largest wooden city in Europe, surrounded by mountains and fjords. Bergen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We stroll along the old promenade, stop by the fish market, and see the Bruggen neighborhood with its old colored houses. We’ll take the funicular up Mount Flaine for a bird’s-eye view of the city.
Transfer to campsite and overnight.
We have breakfast and hit the road. Our route will take us along the Hardanger National Road, which is an attraction in its own right. Incredible scenery, viewpoints, mountain lakes, mountains and waterfalls await us.
We will stop at two waterfalls – Veil of the Bride and Steinsdalsfoss. Steinsdalsfoss is one of the most visited and photographed waterfalls in Norway. Inside, there is a bridge where tourists can walk while watching the powerful flow of water.
After lunch we cross the Hardangerfjord by ferry and go to the campsite by the lake in the town of Odd.
Going to bed early tonight to get some rest before going to Troll Tongue.
Today we are waiting for the most difficult, most intense and most unforgettable trek to the rock Trolltunga or “Troll’s tongue”.
The famous rock hangs dramatically over the mountain lake Ringedalsvant. The view from the top is fantastic – a reward for anyone who was able to overcome 11 km of cross-country terrain. Climbing takes about 5-6 hours. And so, you’re standing on Troll’s Tongue, enjoying the scenery around you and realizing that reality is far more beautiful than all the stories and photos associated with this place. Now you can be proud of yourself!
In the evening we’ll have a barbecue party at the campsite to celebrate today’s ascent.
Those who don’t want to go to the track can stay at the campsite and walk in the town of Odd.
After a challenging climb up “Troll’s Tongue,” we will take a break from the activities and enjoy the beautiful scenery and viewpoints of our route.
We will drive along one of Norway’s most scenic roads, the Aurlandsdalen Valley, known as the “Norwegian Grand Canyon. We stop at the Steigasten Lookout, which offers an incredible view of the entire Aurlandsvangen Valley and Aurlands Fjord.
Steigasten is a 4-meter wide platform located above the fjord at a height of 650 meters. The platform is more than 30 meters long and ends in a sharp drop that is blocked by a barely visible panel of glass. The platform has won many awards for its ingenious architecture.
After lunch, we’ll take a hiking trail that locals call the “Snow Road.” This road has that name for a reason. Even at the height of summer, snow drifts several meters high can be seen along the road!
After breakfast, we will go on a short trek to one of the branches of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, which is the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Looking at the huge blocks of blue ice, which make their way between the steep cliffs, you can feel all the power and strength of nature. Unfortunately, this huge thousand-year-old glacier is shrinking with each passing year, and the next generations may no longer see this miracle of nature.
Transfer to Geiranger Fjord. On the way we will visit several viewpoints with a great view of the fjord.
We start our day at a very scenic campground and head out to experience one of the most spectacular places on our planet. Geiranger is a fjord that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This emerald fjord is surrounded by majestic mountains with snow-capped peaks and waterfalls. The most famous of the local waterfalls are “Seven Sisters”, “The Bridegroom” and “The Veil of the Bride”. We’ll rent a small boat and, navigating between the huge cruise ships, explore the fjord from the water.
After lunch we will drive along the picturesque “Eagle Road”, on top of which there is an observation deck with a stunning view of Geiranger-fjord.
Today our route will take us along the national tourist road Trollstigen, one of the most difficult and, at the same time, the most beautiful roads in the world. Rugged landscapes of Scandinavia, steep descents and ascents – that’s why travelers from all over the world come here. The Troll Road is a harmony of nature and architecture. Although man-made, the trail blends very organically into the local landscape.
Then our way will lie in the West of Norway, in a cozy town and the largest fishing center of the country – Olesund. The Norwegians themselves recognized Olesund as one of the most beautiful cities in the country. In 1904 the city was completely burned in a fire, but was completely rebuilt in the then fashionable Art Nouveau style. The fjords surrounding the city add to the charm of the place. We’ll take a stroll along the waterfront and head out to watch our last sunset in Norway on Mt. Axla, which offers a great view of the city and surrounding area.
Moving to the campsite. Cleaning the cars and collecting things. The day ends with a farewell dinner in this incredible northern camp.
We have breakfast and go to the airport. We say goodbye to fabulous Norway and fly home.
