Day 1

Arrival at Keflavik airport.
We rent a car and check into a hotel.

Day 2

We start the day with a visit to the shark museum. The farm in Bjarnarhöfn is the main supplier of hakarl (rotten shark meat), a traditional and savory Icelandic dish. The small museum in Bjarnarhöfn will show you the history of this culinary miracle.

After amazing delicacies, we will go to one of the hallmarks of Iceland – Mount Kirkjufell. It is located on the northern coast of Iceland, and its height is 463m.

Further, we will head to an equally interesting location – the rocks near Arnarstapi, in the south of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. In the past, one of the most important trading ports, the population of which was much higher than the current one. Basalt columns, gorges and grottoes surround its pier.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will head to the “lava waterfall”, Hrøynfossar. It is a whole network of waterfalls located on the territory of 900 meters. The total number of streams from which falling streams are formed exceeds a hundred.

Further, our path will lie in the Deildartunguhver geothermal zone. The geothermal spring gained its fame due to the extremely high temperature of the water, which reaches 97°C. Such a high temperature is nowhere else on the island!

There are many places in Iceland that can be called attractions of this island. Among them, a considerable number can be safely awarded the definition of “wonder of nature.” Among such epithets is the Glimur waterfall. It is the second highest waterfall in Iceland.

Transfer to the hotel.

Day 4

Today we will go to the Golden Circle of Iceland!

The first location will be the Silfra tectonic fault, in the Thingvellir National Park. Here is the junction of two lithospheric plates – North America is in contact with Europe. Incredibly, here you can literally go from one continent to another by land, and in the underwater Silfra Gorge you can swim between two tectonic plates.

Next, we will go to the geyser field in the Strokkur park. The most numerous groups of geysers can be found in just 5 places on the planet: in Iceland, North America, New Zealand, Chile and Kamchatka. Therefore, traveling to Iceland is truly an invaluable experience!

We will close the “Golden Ring” with the Gullfoss waterfall. This is the seventh highest waterfall in Iceland. The waters of the glacial Hvita River fall noisily from a height of 32 meters into a narrow canyon, the depth of which reaches 70 meters. Icelanders consider it the most beautiful waterfall in the country.

At the end of the day, we move to the hotel.

Day 5

The day will start with a drive to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. One of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland, in the Sydurland region. This is a very picturesque place, and its photos can be seen in many books, calendars and even films.

Our next location is no less famous. Skogafoss is one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, a visiting card and a symbol of the country. Its classic picturesque appearance is admirable. Due to the large amount of spray and mist, on sunny and clear days one can observe a single, and sometimes double, colorful rainbow.

Further, we will go to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, to the Dyrhólaey lighthouse. This is the southernmost point of the island. Its name is translated as – a hole in the door. Here, the sea, destroying the cliffs of volcanic lava 120 meters high, has created incredible forms. These are not just stone pillars, they form bizarre arches and towers. Rocks rise in the middle of a black sandy wasteland, and in separate groups they run far into the ocean.

After Cape Dyrhólaey, the most popular movie set in Iceland awaits us – the black beach of Reynisfjara. There are not many places in the world where you can see black beaches, and Iceland is one of them.

Transfer to the hotel.

Day 6

Early in the morning we will go to the Iceberg Lagoon. This lagoon began to form about a hundred years ago. At that time, one of the tongues of the Vatnajökull glacier almost reached the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. As a result of warming, the tongue of the glacier gradually decreased and receded from the shore, forming a lake with melted glacial water.

From the “Iceberg Lagoon” we will go to a very amazing place, the photos of which will decorate our social networks. Ice caves are temporary structures that appear on the edge of glaciers and look amazingly beautiful from the inside. Over the centuries, the old ice has been compressed here in such a way that it contains virtually no air bubbles. Due to the lack of air, the ice absorbs almost all sunlight, except for its blue fraction, which is visible to the naked eye inside the cave!

Transfer to the hotel.

Day 7

Early departure and transfer to the capital – Reykjavik.

Here you can walk around the central quarters, go to the whale museum, which demonstrates 23 full-scale models of cetaceans, climb the tallest building in Iceland – the Cathedral and try again the national delicacy and, at the same time, one of the most disgusting dishes in the world – hakarl (rotten shark meat). Also, you can buy souvenirs and much more.

Day 8

In the morning, you can visit the “Blue Lagoon” – the most famous hot spring in Iceland.

We rent a car and go to the airport, in order to not long say goodbye to the country, which will remain forever in your heart)
