Information
about the tour:

In the last 7 years, more than 1500 people have discovered Iceland with us. Drawing on this experience, we have been able to create one of the most exciting, interesting, and thrilling tours for you. During this adventure, we will venture deep into the island, crossing dozens of rivers on foot, in fully equipped off-road vehicles. So you can see live the deadliest volcano in recorded history, feel the breath of the largest glacier in Europe, stroll through rainbow hills, see smoking mountains made entirely of fumaroles, and walk through "lunar and Martian" valleys! And we haven't forgotten about the vibrant locations along the main road. Here, new icebergs will be born before your eyes, incredible waterfalls will tumble from cliffs, and you will see endless black lava fields and green, moss-covered fields formed by thousands of volcanic eruptions. Back in the 90s, this region of Iceland was considered uninhabitable. There were no cities, no hotels, no gas stations, nothing... Only adventure seekers, whom the locals called madmen, came here. And now you will be one of them! Don't miss one of the most thrilling adventures of this year and book your tour now;)

CONSULTATION
Day 1

Meeting at the airport and car rental.

Depending on the arrival time, we will either head to the recently active volcano near the Blue Lagoon or go straight to check into the hotel. In the evening, we will gather at the bar for a briefing. Over a glass of beer or wine, we will get to know each other, divide into cars, and discuss the upcoming expedition.

Day 2

Today we are going to see the "Golden Circle" of Iceland. But before that, we will stop by a market to buy groceries for a few days and everything necessary for the evening barbecue.

Our first stop will be the junction of two tectonic plates – the North American and Eurasian. You will have the opportunity to step into America without a visa! Also, this place is known for hosting the Althing, the oldest parliament in Western Europe, since the year 930.

Our next stop is Geysir. This spring gave its name to all springs that eject fountains of hot water and steam to the surface from underground. And today you will be able to take a selfie with it.

Next – more! As you approach this waterfall, you will be overcome by a feeling of inexplicable anxiety. A dull low-frequency sound will send shivers down your spine. This is it, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe – Gullfoss!

At each location, we will have plenty of time to take photos or even paint a picture. After that, we will go to check into our cozy cottages with jacuzzis filled with geothermal water. We will stay here for 2 nights. For dinner, we gather together and have a barbecue.

Day 3

Today is the day we took the jeeps for. We will leave the main roads and head into the depths of the island.

Our main destination is the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range. It is part of a large system of volcanoes covering an area of 100 km². It is characterized by the numerous hot springs and streams that can be seen here. The minerals brought to the surface by the hot springs color the ground in yellow, red, and green.

After that, we will visit the geothermal area of Hveravellir, where we will see geysers and fumaroles again. Here we will have free time to bathe in the wild hot springs.

We are heading towards our cottages. A very beautiful road awaits us along Iceland's second largest glacier, Langjökull. If there is time, after passing through the rocky lava field, we will make it to the sunset over the glacial lake Hgavatn. From the viewpoint, we will have a view of the snow-capped peaks and, in fact, the glacier itself.

The program for this day heavily depends on the weather conditions and the water level in the rivers.

Day 4

We are moving out of the cottages and hitting the road.

“Gateway to Hell” – that’s what they call the volcano Hekla. The strongest eruption of this monster lowered the temperature in the Northern Hemisphere by several degrees! After passing by it, we will head to a beautiful canyon where the Haifoss waterfall flows.

Next, we will see one of the most beautiful roads in Iceland, which will lead us to the Friðland að Fjallabaki National Park. There is practically no vegetation here. In this harshness lies the charm of these places. And there are also countless breathtaking waterfalls. But the main attraction is the colorful mountains! It’s worth taking off-road vehicles just for places like this. Here we will have a small trek to better explore everything. Also, there is a thermal river flowing here, where you can take a dip if you wish.

We are heading south towards the black beach. On the way, we will pass beautiful waterfalls, thermal fields, and “lunar” craters. And if the weather is nice and we have enough time, we will definitely stop by the beautiful Langisjór lake!

For the night, we will settle in stylish modern cottages located far from the city lights. All to see the legendary Aurora! Yes, in Iceland, the northern lights season starts as early as the end of August. September is the perfect time to observe this natural wonder. The thing is, in other months, Iceland has a lot of cloud cover, making it impossible to see anything.

Day 5

We have breakfast, fuel up, and head out on a gravel road towards the deadliest volcano in recorded history – Laki. In the 18th century, it claimed the lives of over 20% of Iceland's population and killed about 60% of the local fauna! The road to it is already a landmark. The mossy fields that will surround us, the glacial rivers that we will wade through, will feel like we are transported into some fairy tale. Laki itself is not a classic stratovolcano. It does not have a single cone like Vesuvius or Hekla. Essentially, it was a rift in the Earth's crust that stretched for several kilometers, and lava flowed in all directions. The flows were so powerful that they reached the Atlantic coast of Iceland and formed the unique environment that we can observe now.

After lunch, crossing the lava fields, we will get as close as possible to the largest glacier in Europe – Vatnajökull. If we are lucky, we will climb it and take unforgettable drone photos.

But we will truly appreciate the scale of the glacier in the iceberg lagoon! Another arm of the glacier forms an ice lake with dozens of icebergs that break into the Atlantic Ocean through a narrow neck of the bay. With a high probability, we will be able to see families of seals swimming among the huge ice floes. This is definitely the most beautiful place in Iceland!

Closer to the evening, we return to our cottages, where we will stay for 2 nights.

The program for this day heavily depends on the weather conditions and the water level in the rivers.

Day 6

We will continue to explore the highlands. We will check out of the cottages and head to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier to see how it shapes the unique local landscape. If we're lucky, we might get to walk through an ice cave.

We are moving further north. After passing literally by the Bláfjallafoss waterfall, we will reach the Maelifell volcano. The green cone standing in the middle of the black glacial river creates a surreal picture in the style of Dalí. The most important thing is that the weather doesn't let us down)

Next, we will enter one of the most beautiful valleys, Þórsmörk, also known as the valley of the god Thor. At some point, a view of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano will open up to our left. It was this volcano that halted all air traffic in Europe in 2010, and its eruption was featured in the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." We will drive along the dry riverbeds of the mountain river throughout the valley, stopping at the most beautiful spots.

Closer to evening, we will check in for one night at a hotel in the town of Hettla.

The program for this day heavily depends on the weather conditions and the water level in the rivers.

Day 7

Today we will look at the main attractions located along the main road #1.

Our first stop will be at the Skogafoss waterfall. This is a classic vertical waterfall that impresses with its perfect lines and proportions. One of the symbols of Iceland.

Next, we will move to the southernmost point of Iceland – Dyrholaey cape. From here, there is a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and black beaches on both sides. You will also be able to see a large arch in the cliff.

The next stop will be one of the most desired locations for many – the black beach Reynisfjara. We will spend a few hours here, watching the huge waves and possibly puffins. The thing is, at the end of August, they fly to warmer places, and the chance of seeing them is not high, but it still exists.

It's time to head back. But that's not all. On the way back, we will stop at two very picturesque waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss and its smaller brother Gljufrabui. You can walk behind the first one, while the second is located in a gorge. They look especially beautiful in the rays of the setting sun. After that, we will head to the hotel.

Day 8

Today we are flying home.

We have breakfast and check out of the hotel. If the group has a late flight, it will be possible to visit the Sky Lagoon thermal springs (paid separately) or take a walk around the capital of Reykjavik.

The exact time for returning the rental cars will be known closer to the tour.
