We fly to Rovaniemi, Santa’s homeland. We rent a car and drive out to our hotel, which is located right on the slope of the ski resort!
We will have at our disposal cozy and modern rooms with accommodation for 2 people per room. Depending on your company, you can choose from 2, 4 or 8-bed rooms.
After checking in, we relax and get to know each other over a glass of wine.
We have breakfast and leave to meet Santa.
In 1985, he decided to open an office in Rovaniemi, and since 2010, the city has received official status as Santa’s hometown. Here we can send postcards to loved ones, with a special Arctic postage stamp which you can’t buy anywhere else. Also, we will have time to “step over” the Arctic Circle, ride a snow tubing, drink a cocktail in the snow bar, get into the New Year atmosphere and take a lot of pictures.
In the evening, we return to the hotel to prepare for New Year’s Eve. First we will gather at a festive table in the restaurant of our hotel, where we can taste traditional Lapland cuisine, and then we will move to the hall of our hotel, or to our cozy penthouse (depends on the accommodation), where we can continue to celebrate until the morning. By 12 a.m., we’ll be treated to a festive fireworks display.
We decided to leave this day without any obligatory activities. So that you could leisurely enjoy the beauty of the polar nature and, if you wish, go snowboarding or skiing right from the hotel.
For those who like a more passive vacation and in case the temperature drops to -40 (which is not uncommon for this area), we have a sauna in our hotel, and you can gather in the lobby of our hotel, play games and continue to celebrate the New Year).
Today our group is divided into two subgroups. The first one will go by cars to the reindeer farm to get acquainted with their life and to ride a sleigh, and the second one will go on a 3-hour trip through the snowy forest on snowmobiles.
In the evening we warm up in the sauna and share emotions and impressions in the lobby of our cozy hotel.
The subgroups are switching places today. The first subgroup rides snowmobiles through the fabulous Lapland forest, while the second subgroup takes a trip to a reindeer farm.
Today is our last full day in the Arctic paradise, which we will spend snowboarding and skiing on the slopes. In the evening we will gather at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner.
We have breakfast and check out of the hotel. Today we return to Rovaniemi, drop off the cars and fly home.
